Pakistan Urges Peace, Stability in Yemen
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry released a declaration affirming its "support for peace and stability in Yemen" while noting Islamabad is monitoring evolving circumstances with concern.
"Pakistan expresses its full support for the diplomatic efforts being undertaken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for ensuring peace and stability in the Republic of Yemen. We also commend the efforts of the UAE in this regard," the statement said.
Islamabad stressed the critical importance of preserving Yemen's sovereignty and territorial boundaries, warning Yemeni actors against pursuing unilateral actions that risk intensifying hostilities.
"We also call on all Yemeni parties to engage constructively and in good faith towards an inclusive, negotiated political solution based on the agreed parameters," it added.
Pakistan expressed optimism that sustained diplomatic initiatives will yield meaningful progress toward enduring stability and alleviate the humanitarian catastrophe afflicting Yemen's civilian population.
Escalating Eastern Yemen Crisis
Since December 3, Southern Transitional Council (STC) military units have seized territories across eastern Yemen's Hadramout province following armed confrontations with the Hadramout Tribes Alliance and government-backed First Military Region forces.
Four days afterward, STC forces extended their territorial gains into Mahra province, previously administered by the internationally recognized government.
A joint Saudi-Emirati military delegation arrived in Aden, southern Yemen, to coordinate arrangements with the STC aimed at withdrawing its forces to positions outside both contested provinces.
The territorial expansion triggered escalating domestic and international demands for STC withdrawal from Hadramout and Mahra—regions comprising approximately half of Yemen's landmass at roughly 555,000 square kilometers.
The UN has issued stark warnings that continued military escalation threatens catastrophic consequences for Yemen, already enduring one of the planet's most severe humanitarian and economic emergencies.
