Yemen Says It Struck Houthi Positions 356 Times in One Day
The claim came in a statement from armed forces spokesman Col. Majid al-Nuzaili, posted on the US social media company X.
Government forces carried out 356 precision strikes "against reinforcements and military capabilities belonging to the Houthi militia," the statement said.
The fighting stretched across 10 fronts, from the far north to the western coast, the south and the center of the country. The statement listed the affected areas as the western coast; Haradh and nearby al-Tuwal in northwestern Hajjah province; Kitaf, al-Baqa and Alb in northern Saada province; northeastern al-Jawf; eastern Marib; southern Lahj; southwestern Taiz; and central al-Bayda.
According to the statement, the operations "left 476 militia members dead or wounded" and destroyed command and control centers, weapons depots and field artillery. Government forces also destroyed or damaged a number of the group's military vehicles, it said.
The ministry also accused the Houthis of using civilians as human shields, alleging the group converted schools into command centers, weapons depots and military supply stores.
The Houthis did not immediately comment on the ministry's statement.
Yemen has been mired in conflict since the Houthis seized Sanaa and several provinces in 2014. A Saudi-led coalition intervened the following year, in 2015, in support of the country's internationally recognized government.
Fighting escalated in September, when the Houthis took control of several key areas in Al-Hudaydah and Taiz provinces, including the strategic city of Mokha. They also advanced to Mayyun Island, which overlooks the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
