Yemeni Forces Retake Mokha from Houthis After Heavy Fighting

(MENAFN) Yemeni pro-government forces regained control of Mokha, a strategic Red Sea port city in western Taiz province, on Monday following “fierce fighting” with Houthi forces, according to reports.

The Nation’s Shield Forces, Giants Brigades and Tihama Resistance, supported by the Popular Resistance and air operations, entered the city and seized control of key areas, according to a military source.

The Houthis had controlled Mokha since early September, the source said.

Clashes broke out at several positions around the city, with the opposing sides using different types of weapons. The fighting reportedly left several Houthi fighters dead and wounded.

Several Houthi fighters were also captured, while others fled the area, the source said, without giving figures for those killed, injured or detained.
